Organic Basics: Soft Touch - TENCEL

Every now and then, the team from Organic Basics shares updates with me regarding their latest products. Organic Basics is a Danish brand that produces organic cotton clothing with more sustainable practices than many other leading retailers. I have written about them before on this blog, and I’m always happy to work with them as they create very simple clothing that not only feels good on your skin, but is also better for the planet than the underwear I’m used to wearing!

This time round, the focus is on their Tencel Soft Touch range. Both my husband and I own a few products from this range and, as the name suggests, we’re going back to basics: underwear, socks, plain t-shirts, vests, and so on. Their style is minimal - an approach that’s stood the test of time since they launched via a Kickstarter campaign in 2014. Organic Basics’ Soft Touch is fast becoming one of my favourite ranges, as the clothing is incredibly soft and comfortable.

Tencel is a brand name for lyocell, made from wood pulp, which can be used by itself or blended with other fabrics like cotton. Made from sustainable wood - eucalyptus from central Europe - Tencel is known to be the most eco-friendly version of lyocell around, and also utilises non-toxic solvent to bind the processed pulp.

While Organic Basics’ clothing is designed to be the undergarment - the base layer or the played-down-casual t-shirt - the brand have managed to do this in a way that is better for the environment, better for our skin, and feels & looks great too.
